Health - Why is the Science Being Ignored?

In the US health care costs during the period from 2007 to 2015 have been eating up a larger and larger share of income and continued to grow even when the overall economy was contracting.

Health care cost inflation rates were 6.5% in 2014 and 6.8% in 2015. By comparison, overall inflation was only 1.58% in 2014 and 0.09% in 2015. This would appear to be unsustainable.

Impressive evidence now exists to show that advanced heart disease, cancers of certain types, diabetes, and a few other degenerative diseases might be reversed by diet.

The evidence can no longer be ignored. Those in science or medicine who shut their minds to such an idea are being more than stubborn; they are being irresponsible.

We also now know that we can largely avoid some “genetic” diseases through nutrition, even though we may harbor one or more genes responsible for the disease.

It has been shown in experimental animals, and published in the top scientific journals, that cancer growth can be turned on and off by nutrition, despite very strong genetic predisposition. These same effects have been indicated over and over again in humans.

These realizations are explained in "The China Study" written by Dr. T. Colin Campbell, which I recommend everybody to read.

Is Soy Good or Bad?

Studies on more than 10,000 breast cancer patients showed that those who ate soy lived longer and had lower risk of cancer returning.

The BRCA1 and BRCA2 gene provides instructions for making a protein that acts as a tumor suppressor. Tumor suppressor proteins help prevent cells from growing and dividing too rapidly or in an uncontrolled way.

The BRCA1/2 proteins are involved in repairing damaged DNA. In the nucleus of many types of normal cells, the BRCA1/2 proteins interact with several other proteins to mend breaks in DNA.

So the BRCA1/2 genes are actually very helpful. However if they have abnormalities then the ability to suppress cancer is diminished.

In laboratory studies it has been shown that soy phytoestrogens could turn back on BRCA protection suppressed by breast cancer, upregulating BRCA expression as much as 1,000% within 48 hours.

Soy intake was only associated with 27% breast cancer risk reduction in people with normal BRCA genes. But a 73% risk reduction in carriers of BRCA gene mutations. So, a healthy diet including soy may be particularly important in those at high genetic risk.

There are many useful research sources mentioned in the article.

The Israeli study, published in the US, found the rate of tumors was far higher among children conceived using IVF (1.5 per 1,000) compared to spontaneously-conceived kids (0.59 per 1,000).

Food as Medicine

Whole plant foods have consistently been found to have health protective qualities. This is due to the balanced natural combination of thousands of phytochemicals present in fruits and vegetables, and the synergistic beneficial effects from consuming them together.

Each plant has thousands of different phytochemicals, and each plant has a whole different phytonutrient profile. Our present Newtonian 'Science' will never be able to analyze the potential benefits offered to us in these foods. Instead they try to extract, for sale and profit motives, single active ingredients that they identify.

There are many foods that are known via research to help overcome many diseases. But you will likely not see anything from the scientific health community promoting those. Instead, those with vested interests in promoting the continuance of our drug-based medicines will tell you there is no clinical evidence for food as medicine, in an attempt to keep you as a medicinal drug consumer.

Don't assume that the statement "no clinical evidence" means it has been tested snd found to be of no benefit. Most often, it means there have been no tests.
